- Member of the Bioinformatics Team, with a research focus on the analysis and interpretation of high-throughput sequencing data, particularly in the fields of molecular tumor profiling, clonal hematopoiesis of indeterminate potential and lymphoma genomics
Scientific profile
- Dr. Leopold Schawe obtained his medical degree from the University of Lübeck in 2021. During his studies, he conducted research on neurogenetic movement disorders at the Institute of Neurogenetics (Head: Prof. Christine Klein) within the research group of Dr. Westenberger. His work focused on the implementation of whole-exome sequencing (WES) in the diagnostic evaluation of neurodegenerative diseases and on elucidating the role of TGM6 in atypical parkinsonism
- Following his graduation, Dr. Schawe commenced his residency in Hematology and Oncology at the UKSH in Lübeck. His clinical activities concentrate on the management of hematologic malignancies, with a particular emphasis on leukemia, lymphoma, and cellular therapies
- In 2025, Dr. Schawe joined the Institute of Medical Systems Biology as a research fellow, where he seeks to integrate clinical oncology with bioinformatic methodologies to advance the molecular characterization of hematologic and solid tumors
