Projects

A list of our current projects.

An Egyptian Genome Reference (EgyptRef)

Using various types of sequencing data and most recent bioinformatics tools we generate a high-quality human de-novo assembly of a North African individual.

Bullous Pemphioid

Bullous Pemphigoid (BP) is the most common autoimmune blistering disease in Europe. Aim of the project is to characterize and to compare the skin microbiome composition of bullous pemphigus patients and healthy (age-matched) controls at numerous body sites.

Cancer Genomics

Cancer is one of the leading causes of death worldwide. Genetically, they are very heterogeneous according the somatic mutations they acquired over years and decades during their evolution within the host.

Immune Repertoire

Next generation sequencing (NGS) technologies enable studies and analyses of the diversity of the immune repertoire (TCR and BCR) to elucidate immune functions in health and disease.

Mitochondria Sequencing

Together with members of Lübecker Institut für Experimentelle Dermatologie we examine the functional biology of mitochondrial genetics using deep sequencing of whole mitochondrial genome.

PM4Onco

The PM4Onco consortium aims to strengthen Personalized Medicine in cancer care by building an alliance between the German Medical Informatics Initiative (MII), the top oncological centers and consortia, clinical cancer registries, junior researchers, patients and citizens.

The panabc Project

The panabc project provides broad-scale information on multitarget ABC transporter modulators and gives a detailed collection of chemical and structural information, modulatory activities, transporter host systems, functional tracers, experimental assays, and associated original literature.

The Medical Systems Biology group focuses on the computational investigation and integration of multi-omics data in explorative, preventative, and therapeutic contexts.
